What is the best advice......?

What is the best advice you can give to a first time visitor to London ?What is the best advice......?
I just got home from studying there for 4 months. Of course as the others suggested get a map and get familiar with the tube. The tube is super easy to get around on once you figure it out.

Besides that I would say go to The London Tower. It was my favorite touristy thing in London. There is so much history and it's where the city began and you can see the Crown Jewels! Eat fish and chips at a pub with a pint. Try banoffe pie. It's a tradition English dessert and became my favorite thing!! But you can't really find it here in the U.S. Go to Camden. Camden is now my favorite place EVER. It's all about the alternative scene. People totally punked out and emo and gothic. Lots of tattoo shops and that kind of stuff. It's awesome though.

Have a GREAT time!! It's expensive but it won't be as much fun if you're totally worried about what you're spending. What is the best advice......?
1) When you arrive, take 5 minutes to study the standard London underground map and try to understand the system by which the underground stations are organised (e. g. the ';eastbound';, ';westbound';, ';southbound';, or ';northbound'; signs). It's very easy to understand, and once you do understand it, travel will be much less stressful, since you'll always be 100% sure what you are doing.

2) Try to get an additional map, which is not stylised, like the standard London underground map. You'll want to know where thé stations REALLY are on a map of London - sometimes things are much closer together than they look on the London underground map, and walking may in these cases be faster and much more convinient than taking the tube.
Get a map and associate it with the major landmarks: the london eye (hard to miss) etc. if you need to ask for directions try to ask a police officer or someone with the govt, ive found asking buisness ppl rather hard as they are always in a hurry to go to some meeting or something.
get a map..ask for help....dictionary in london's language [english]
