Has anyone any advice on the best laptop to buy?

I am looking for a good laptop, that will handle games like the sims nightlife, zoo tycoon ect. I have seen one with the following specs and would appreciate any advice you can give me on buying a good laptop. I need plenty of space to install games and dont want it to be jerky when playing games. Also need one to play dvd's as good as a portable dvd player

667 MHz FSB

2 MB Cache

1024 MB RAM

120 GB Hard Drive

DVD ReWriter MultiDrive

17'; HD Widescreen Brightview Display

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

256 MB nVidia GeForce Go7400 Graphics

This laptop costs 拢1.100

Is there much difference between the above laptop and the one below the one below is 拢849.00 both HP

AMD Turion64 ML-34 Processor 1.6GHz

1600 MT/s HyperTransport

1 MB Cache

1024 MB RAM

100 GB Hard Drive

DVD ReWriter MultiDrive

17'; HD Widescreen Brightview Display

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

128 MB ATI X200 Dedicated GraphicsHas anyone any advice on the best laptop to buy?
either of these machines should be able to meet your requirements... the sims games are not very demanding on graphics/processor, so no problems for these PCs - same goes for DVD playback.

if this is all that you require from your laptop, then i suggest going for the cheaper option...Has anyone any advice on the best laptop to buy?
For hardcore gaming, go for Alienware. But based on your applications mentioned a TOSH or a Fujitsu would do.
Get one of the new core duo processors rather than the AMD 64. They multitask a lot faster.

Also dedicated graphics the bigger the better.

Toshiba P100 for example.

Good luck
At present the best brand ir TOSHIBA

and the second are : HP, Compact, simens
try toshiba or lg
The issue of the best laptop to buy should be taking serious by you because of the money you are investing and the reason for purchasing it. I am not really trying to recommend a particular product for you but to give you a professional advise.

I will prefer you buy a product the has a warranty centre in your neighbourhood and also have support after sales.

To the best of my knowledge an IBM product is the best option for you because of the ruggedity it has. I have used their products many times and it has been meeting my demand.

I have recommended it for many people and their has been no regret.
Seriously, call Dell and they will build you the perfect laptop. Tell them the exact specifications that you want and they can actually build your laptop with everything you asked for and then some. Just got my computer and laptop from them and I have no complaints.....they gave me exactly what I asked for plus a few upgrades and discounts.....
Dell will do for you.
hey man, buy the HP Pavilian dv4000 its the best and used for high duties.
Get the cheaper one. It's not much worse at all.

You can get 200 gigs of external hard drive for like 100 dollars.

Hard disk is cheap. Processor speed is key. You can overclock perhaps.

RAM is good for the current applications. Pro/home is the same for the average user.
you can go for ibm think pad you ll surely have all the fearures you require and definitely long lasting battery and a very durable laptop which is cheaper than many others
Try a sony vaio, or an apple mac ibook I think it is..

go on ebay, type in the specs and put the items that come up on your watched items. then select them all and hit compare, then you can see 3 at a time side by side and you can get a fairly good idea.

The applemacs are more a multimedia lap top, so probably better for what you want, but the sony vaio uses microsoft windows and so it's easier to use. I'd go for the vaio.
