Best advice to speak louder/more clearly?

i'm soft spoken and sometimes people can't understand what i'm saying. i've read about ';speaking from your diaphragm'; but i don't really understand how to do it properly. i'm not always soft spoken (if im drunk or temporarily feeling very confident for whatever reason i'll be a lot louder) but i remember being soft spoken even as a kid.

any advice helps. thanks in advanceBest advice to speak louder/more clearly?
Hey, I completely agree with you. ';Speaking from your diaphragm';??

...~*takes a moment and googles that*~ Ooh! Here's a question similar to yours! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?鈥?/a>

I think that that can be helpful. I'm somewhat of a shy, soft spoken person myself, but because others can sometimes have difficulty hearing what I say, I've had to force myself to be louder, simply to be heard.

Say, like with my mother, if she's standing only an arm's length away from me, she can hear me easily enough. However, if she's standing across the room, if I speak normally, of course she can't hear me, so I have to make my voice louder (not shouting though) so she can easily hear me. Just try and picture that, that even if someone is standing close to you, imagine that they're actually standing several feet away (or are hard of hearing) and you need to speak somewhat loudly to be heard.

Not sure just how much help this will be, but good luck! %26lt;3
