Clearing sinus & lung congesstion? I am wondering what is the best way to do this? Any advice? P.S. I smoke...

I read to boil water in a fair sized pot, put a towel over my head and breath in the steam. I am going to try that later. Has anyone ever done this? Does it work fairly well? And please suggest any other ideas or medacines/remedies you might know of to get rid of it. Thanks a bunch!Clearing sinus %26amp; lung congesstion? I am wondering what is the best way to do this? If you suffer from sinus problems the worst thing you can do to yourself is to smoke.

Quite clearly your sinus problems are not that bad because you are still smoking. Smoking would normally aggravate your sinus problems to a totally intolerable level and make you very ill so obviously your sinus problems are only very mild.Clearing sinus %26amp; lung congesstion? Steam helps, don't burn yourself tho! Perhaps a doctor would be a good idea? Quit smoking... fresh air... depending on how bad it is, nasal sprays can help, but better off with meds the doc prescribes, because correct treatment depends on the cause more than just the symptoms...
Number one stop smoking, but if you can not for whatever reason try this. There is an over the counter nasal spray called SIMPLY SALINE. (no chemilcals just saline and distilled water) Use this in the morning, at lunch, and before bed. This should help and with regular use prevent congestion along with preventing sickness. If this is something that has been lingering and your mucus is colored in any way you might have an infection and need to get on some antibiotics to clear it up. Still use SIMPLY SALINE on a regular bases. I have never felt better.
try adding eucalyptus leaves to the water after it is removed from the heat...steep but do not boil leaves

for sinus you might try a nose bidet
Hi try to eat something w/ curry in it such as a thai dish.

OR something with a natural spice such as peppers or chili.
