Are we living in a racist country still? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?

Why do people labored mixed persons such as Barack Obama or Harry Berry as African American.

Can they be white because their mothers is white? Can they be Mixed Races?

Why do they have to be African American?

Thank you.Are we living in a racist country still? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
I never did understand the African American thing. The African part is supposed to refer a *****. What about all the South Africans who are lily white, yet more African than any American (black or white) could ever be.

I think it has something to do with making sure we never forget about slavery.

The **** was inserted by Yahoo. It was a reference to a race, not a nasty slang word. Are we living in a racist country still? 10 points for the best advice. Thank you?
I was wondering that too, they are both, why did they choose the label African American.

Where is Africa-America anyway? lol (little joke)
Because once you go Black you can';t go back. I assume you mean Hallie Berry. Then America calls you an African American.
Yes very much so. We should all be called Americans plain and simple and quit with the stupid labels.
Yes, I think that racism still exists (sadly) mixed race people sometimes take one race over another, usually the one that has had the most influence in their life. In the past if you were half black and half white you were dubbed mulluto and this was as bad as being black. Things are incredibly better now but trust me that those that wave their confederate flags are stating flat out that they are racist.
U.S. Citzen is what people could be called. This what many are after all.Obama is a U.S. Citizen so call Obama The Citizen Of Choice if this is your choice.

Hillary is not a white woman but is a U.S. Citizen running for President and neither is her name Bill.
We are living in a discriminating country, and it's always going to be like that no matter what law or laws you pass. There will always be some people we like and some we don't, for what ever reason and nothing will change that.
Ya i don't much like ';labeling'; people as just this or that rich or poor black or white either. But the sad fact is that in our country racism has been prevalent in our society. And now we can see the pendulum of change has swung way far in the other direction. Where a ';certain'; group is being singled out as the root cause of another groups problems and or actions. If all of us would just take full responsibility for our selves and communities and those around us i think the term ';racism'; would be extinct.
Generally speaking,no.But small pockets still exist. The only way to completely wipe out racism is not through education but through inter breading. This is why I highly encourage interracial relationships.Because in time there would be no white race or black race etc.In time everyone may end up being a mixture of different races and nationalities. And if that's the case then how are people going to be racist if chances are there DNA also has a little of everything. So my advice is to marry someone of a different race.I know this sounds pretty immature, but its the truth.
No.
they get more benefits that way.
Actually in today's day and age, it is actually up to them. The classifications people have are their choice, so they choose what they want to be. I believe both of them have chosen to be identified as African American, they identify themselves that way. Otherwise they would have corrected someone, and they would have asked to be refered to as Mixed or White, or whatever race or Mix of races they believe defines them, if they believe it defines them at all. Race is non-existant, it is just skin color, and what skin color you may think someone is really has no bearing on who they are, and how they identify themself is far more important than what they may or may not look like.
More sexist than racist.
Im tired of all these stupid labels. We are all going to die one day and be buried next to each other.
