I've been in a band since i was 12 and i am now 18. The first time we were scouted by and independent label was when we were 14. The owner of the label gave me the only piece of advice i have ever listened to and that was ';Let Them Come To You';. You can send out demo tapes to every label, promotion company, managers etc but you will never know if they have listened to them or just got lost in the piles and piles of other demo CD's. Were as if you wait till labels, promo companies and managers approach you then u know they are interested. Now you don't have to listen to any of this but all i can say is in the last 4 years we have been on 4 independent labels ranging from really small to quite big and we have just been asked to go for a meeting with SonyBMG (UK). And we have never once sent a demo CD to any label. We have ache vied everything we have done by gigging at every possible place we could and by gaining a fan base along the way.The Best Advice For Artists Looking For Record Labels?
that's exactly the best way to do it, good luck, exposure, and a good fan base will beat begging for a contract anytime, just one piece of advice, if you go into recording, and from there, touring, make sure you have about 3 albums worth of stuff behind you, touring won't allow you to write as much, but you'll still need to follow up your first release. The Best Advice For Artists Looking For Record Labels?
Good advice but no question...unless you were asking if that was good advice, lol.
